Sean Spicer promised a one-way ticket back to their country of origin for all illegals who violate laws in the United States. President Trump is expected to sign two executive orders regarding immigration and national security on Wednesday.
The first is titled “Border Security and Immigration Enforcement Improvements.” This order details plans to build a barrier on the southern border to stem the flow of drugs, crime, and illegal immigration into the United States. Spicer echoed Trump’s promise that Mexico will pay for the wall. This order provides Homeland Security with the tools and resources needed to stop illegal immigration. It creates more detention space along the southern border to make it easier and cheaper to detain and return illegals to their country of origin. Obama’s “catch and release,” policy will officially end. Priority will be given to the prosecution and deportation of illegals who violate laws. At the end of their prison sentence, they will be issued one-way tickets back to their country of origin. Spicer promised that the countries will take them back, which is an issue addressed in the second executive order.
The “Enhancing Public Safety in the Interior of the United States,” executive order supports the enforcement of immigration laws and customs enforcement. Spicer stated that “Federal agencies are going to unapologetically enforce the law; no ifs, ands, or buts.” This order will restore the Secure Communities Program, which helps ICE agents target illegal immigrants for removal from the United States. To ensure that the countries accept the returned criminals, Spicer said that the State Department will withhold visas and use other tools. This order also strips federal grant money from states and cities that harbor illegal immigrants.
Spicer concluded by stating that “Americans will no longer subsidize disregard for our laws.”
